Team PED is a group of cyclists and casual bike riders that will come together on May 16, 2010 to ride in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure.   We will be riding the "silk sheets" route in Fairburn to help the ADA raise money to help with their mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

We ride high-end road bikes and bikes from Target.    We ride the 8 mile family ride and the metric century.   We are experienced cyclists and casual bike riders.  This may be the shortest ride we do all year or the longest.  The one thing we all have in common is a desire to improve the quality of life for ourselves, friends, or relatives who live with diabetes.

Email alan@teamped.org and tell us why you ride.

As a rider you can solicit donations from family, friends, and businesses to sponsor you as you ride either the 8 mile Family Fun Ride, 25K (16 mile), 50K (31 mile), or 100K (62 mile) route.

It's easy.  Just follow these simple steps.

  1. Click on the Join Team PED link above to register online.

  2. Click on the Contribution Forms link above to download some contribution forms.

  3. Carry a contribution form with you everywhere you go and ask family, friends, and businesses you frequent to donate to a very worthy cause.  The ADA requires each rider to raise a minimum of $150.00 but don't stop there, set a goal and go for it.

  4. Start training.  Make sure you and your bike are in good shape.  The 25K ride on "silk sheets" is a breeze but it wouldn't hurt to pedal around the block a few times before May 18th.

  5. Keep asking for donations.  $150.00 gets you a Tour de Cure tee shirt and $200.00 or more qualifies you for additional awards like cycling clothing and gift certificates.  Team PED will also be giving their own incentives away.
